The tale goes that he was lying under the Eildon Tree when the Queen ae Elfland came by oan a white horse wi fifty-nine silver bells oan its mane. He went wi her. Seven year passed doon there and felt like three days.

When she sent him hame she gied him a gift, and it wisnae a kind wan. He could never again say a word that wisnae true. Nae white lies, nae being polite aboot somebody's cooking, nae getting oot ae anything.

He spent the rest ae his life telling folk exactly whit was coming, and being right, and being awfy hard tae have roond fur yer tea.
